It takes a long time to grow an old friend

I've just being reading a thread about best friends.  I've always had a best bestfriend. I had several as I moved around primary schools, another couple at secondary school, one at University, another in the early days at work, but since there's not been that special one.
It has bothered me in the past. When other people have being talking about experiences they've had with their best friend, "oh - I'll ask my best friend", "I can't do la-de-da as I'll be with my best friend".  I thought it was me being insecure (yes - cut me in half and, like rock, I'll have 'insecure" and "jealous" written all through me!), I do have very close friends and people I confide in, but if you asked them who their best friend was, it isn't likely that they would say me.
Then I saw this post:
"He is the one who is there for me all the time, my soul mate, the one who 'gets' me, who loves me, who puts me first, who makes me laugh, who makes me feel safe, who would walk to the ends of the earth for me, who inspires me and who I have never felt so contented and happy to be myself with. In many ways he is also like the male version of me!"

Of course - slap in the face with a wet fish moment - for the last 16 years I've been living with my best friend. Doh!

In the beginning...
....look what happened to us, our love grew (ha ha pass the bucket!!)

Watch out world here they come or how we lost the stabilisers!

We seem to have got more proficient at getting the children off four wheels and on to two:

Here's Anya - first solo cycle at 5 years and 11 months old.
Bucks - age 5 and 3 months (we thought that this was early!)

But today we threw away the stabilisers for good, with theEu being only 3 years and 6 months.......

The steering needs some work so if you see him coming jump out of the way!

SkyWatch Friday - bursting into life

Whoop whoop - everything and everyone appears to be jumping into life - amazing what a bit of sun light can do.  Last year our damson tree had four flowers on it and managed a whole two fruit (one of which was spat out by a child as they didn't like it!).

This year every bough of the little tree is covered in pretty white flowers, so may be I'll have enough for a crumble this year (the rhubarb is also unfolding so may be able to bulk it out with that?).

It's not just plants that have been springing to life - we've been out for our first ice-cream fuelled bike ride. Euan has got his balanced bike sussed and could be heard screeching at the top of his voice - "No - I should be at the front!". And by foot power alone he normally was!

I would like to take this opportunity to warn the good people of Staffordshire (if not the world in general!) - that there is now an appropriately sized peddle bike in the garage, that this weekend, theEu will be getting his hand on. Be afraid, be very afraid!
Zoom around the world and enjoy the skies there while you still can at Skywatch Friday
